November

I literally get on my computer every day and see my blog tab at the top and think to myself, "maybe I should blog today". But do I ever? NO. I don't know what it is but most days I just don't have anything to share or just don't feel like it. But these past few days I have really felt the need to REALLY do this. No more waiting a month for the next post. Now, I don't have a lot of time right now so I will keep it short and simple. I have so much running through my mind that I want to write about that has happened recently but I will save that for tonight!

for now..IT'S NOVEMBER!!!

I know it's only been 4 days but I love November...just like I love almost every other month. It's the month where there is still football games and basketball is starting. It's the month (or this year at least) where the sweaters and coats and boots are finally starting to be a daily occurrence. It's the month of THANKSGIVING and family. It's the month when Christmas decorations start appearing everywhere!

I feel like this is a lame post and can't wait to do something else tonight, something special. so get ready.

P.S. The new Jason Aldean cd, "My Kinda Party" came out on Tuesday and of course I am obsessed. I just love him! If you haven't already, get the cd! RIGHT NOW.

back in the swing of thing

Okay, so apparently I had this idea in my head that I was going to be this great blogger and blog ALL THE TIME..and I did at first..for about three days and now here I am 16 days since my last post. I've really REALLY been meaning to blog since the last time I did but so much has been going on I just haven't had the time..sorry if you've felt neglected.

A lot have things have been going on in my life in the past two weeks. School started back and let me just tell you it is great! Being a sophomore is great. I hated that awkward "freshman" stage and label. But school is school and even though in the beginning it's great, today it hit me that reality was setting back in and the busyness is beginning! I still don't know what I want to major in...I mean, I pretty much know that I want to be a Dental Hygienist BUT Lipscomb doesn't have that. So for now I'm kind of just taking classes to benefit Dental Hygiene school and trying to figure out the future. If you're unaware, you don't have to have a degree in anything (just specific pre-recs) to get into Dental Hygiene but I feel that it's better to have something to fall back on...now to decide what that will be. Decisions, Decisions...I hate them. I'm taking Chemistry (sick), Nutrition, Bible, Medical Terminology, and Sociology..basically I'm being a science nerd. And I hate science. I'll be honest..it's not my thing. But I'll survive.

Nothing else really exciting has happened (besides one thing that I'll get to in a minute) except SANCTUARY IS BACK!! If you aren't familiar with what exactly Sanctuary is you are seriously missing out! Every Thursday night hundreds and sometimes thousands of people get together and worship God and let me tell you, it is INCREDIBLE! If you're in the Nashville area, get your butt to Woodmont Hills at 9:00 Thursdays and you won't regret it! If not, check out any Hillsong music and you will get a little idea of what this wonderful event is really like. I cannot stress how much I love this enough!!

Last weekend, a group of girls and I took a little trip to Chattanooga to attend a Girl's conference called His Proposal. It was honestly the most incredible, uplifting, inspiring weekend I've ever experienced. I can't even begin to describe to you everything I learned...I'll save that for my next blog. Promise, I can't wait to share with you! Even though it was a girl's conference, boys can learn things too :)

That is about all the is happening in my life, unless I am forgetting something major which I don't think I am. I wish I had some funny story to share or something like that, however, my brain is slowly deteriorating. The last few hours has consisted of: A Walk to Remember, studying some Sociology, the ever popular Facebook, and now The Rachel Zoe Project is playing and have lost the ability to think. Next time I'll have something good and I promise it won't be 16 days later.

Thanks for Reading!

I have had the best summer!

I think a lot of people these days don't realize how blessed they actually are. Often times I forget how important it is to have good people in your life. In my life, I have been so blessed to have the best family, friends, and second families. Without these people in my life to help guide me I don't know where I would be. Yes, I may not have put everyone that has influenced my life but several important ones are on here. This post is kind of a combination of "What I did this Summer"/"Some of my favorite people" because I can kill two birds with one stone. In a quick list before the pictures..my summer consisted of:

  • Hylake--Which I have no pictures of on here. Maybe later..
  • Two wonderful beach trips! One with friends, and one with the whole fam.
  • I was baptized on June 9th this summer. It was the best day ever.
  • Impact--Such an awesome experience being a counselor an sharing God with those younger than me.
  • Center Hill Lake..family getaways and my best friends birthday partayy!
  • CMA fest.
  • Trip to the ATL with my 4 best friends (sister included :)--Six Flags and Braves!
  • Rock Island--cliff jumping, too much hiking, and climbing a waterfall :)
  • Random fun summer nights doing the Murfreesboro thing: Sonic, Bowling, and the usual Driving around.
  • The big election in which my Poppi was re-elected County Mayor! Wahooo!
  • Titan's Training Camp with my best friend and meeting my favorite Titan, Cortland Finnegan!

I have the best family ever

I have the best friends. End of story.

Mmmm Music.

I really don't want to get annoying with my blog but I can't sleep right now and am listening to a playlist of songs I've been enjoying throughout the summer. Some are old and some are new. If you know me, you know I'm a country girl at heart. I know every song that comes on country radio and probably have every CD of the artist and know every song they've ever done. I have gone to numerous country concerts in my time.  But ultimately I love music, and in the past year or so I've been drawn to some other things--mostly slow "mellow-y" stuff that I listen to mainly when I'm not driving and listening to my favorite country like Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, or Luke Bryan, and I'm guilty of being obsessed with Ke$ha and gLee. So here is a list of some of my favorite "alternative to country" songs (okay so maybe there are a few that would be considered country..but get over it.)  You should get them..and others by all the artists. I could put so many more.

1. Where the Love Lasts Forever--Hillsong United
2. Even Now--Caitlin and Will
3. Superman--Joe Brooks
4. Moving Backwards--Ben Rector
5. You to Miss--Love and Theft
6. In Your Atmosphere (Live)--John Mayer
7. Human--Jon McLaughlin
8. Psalm 13--Nate Hale
9. Where the Story Ends--The Fray
10. Old Fashioned Letters--Jason Reeves
11. Your Love is a Song--Switchfoot
12. Till I See You--Hillsong United
13. Photographs and Memories--Jason Reeves
14. Hesitate--Steve Moakler
15. Out of My Mind--Colbie Caillat
16. Drowning--Love and Theft
17. Yellow--Coldplay
18. LoveSick--Tenth Avenue North
19. Better With You--Five Times August
20. I Hope You Find It--Miley Cyrus (The Last Song Soundtrack)

You might notice (or maybe not) that there are NO Dave Barnes songs on this list because 1.) if you know me you probably already know how obsessed I am with him, and 2.) I couldn't pick one, or two, or even three of my favorites. Just know he is awesome and if you don't listen to him you are seriously missing out. I'm a self proclaimed Dave fan with all of his songs on my iTunes and have been to 3 concerts in the past year...he's pretty great!

Dave Barnes :)

story time.

This was not originally my blog idea for the day..but it's going to be a funny one. If you are a cat lover don't get offended...

First, let me tell you a little bit about my life. I have a sister and we have a best friend. Every once in a while (at least once a week most weeks) we get together and have "friend time". This time usually consists of some trashy reality tv watching and a trip to some sort of fast food place--usually Sonic or Dairy Queen...or on this particular occasion BOTH.  There was no trashy tv watching tonight..we skipped straight to Dairy Queen and ordered the usual (we never get "Something Different" at Dairy Queen--ALWAYS THE SAME THING!). My sister then decides she wants something different from Sonic and of course we go, because what else do people do around here beside go to Sonic? Nothing. Side note: at our Sonic, there are a lot of stray cats and I mean A LOT. They're gross and it's completely unsanitary for them to be there so we usually try to avoid them at all cost. But tonight was different. My sister was driving tonight and as we pulled around to the cool side of the parking lot she notices one of the stray cats in her spot..in the MIDDLE of the spot. So of course we still have to park in that spot (this is when the hilarious laughing starts in the car)...she begins to pull over the cat because it was in the middle of the spot and the girls in the car across the parking practically climbs out the window and is like yelling at us because we're going to kill the cat!! Along with all the workers staring at us (some laughing by the way) as we park. Hilarious. Just imagine all three of us laughing hysterically at this cat just laying in the parking lot and not moving for a car! It was obviously not a very smart cat. This might have been on of the greatest Sonic moments of my life. Okay, so maybe you didn't think it was as funny as we do and I'm sorry if you think you wasted some time, but in the end the cat survived and he can be visited whenever you wish. I hope no one got offended by this story..we really would never kill a cat.

I would like to give a special shout out to Chelsey and Brianne. May we experience many more nightly Sonic/DQ runs.

love.

All New to Me

I've been wanting to start "blogging" for quite a while now and have just never had the time. I don't really have anything creative to blog about like some people do so I'm a little bit self conscious about this right now. I feel like I need to be creative in things like this and I'm just not. For example, it took me almost 15 minutes to think of a good quote/title for this blog and I don't even know if I actually want to keep it that. We'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow.

So, like the title says, blogging is all new to me right now. I have no clue what I'm doing and am basically just sitting here typing away. My life is not overly interesting and I'm not even sure if I would read this if I were you ;) But, I will be moving back to my "home" in Nashville in ONE WEEK, so I feel this is THE right time to start this blog. This summer has seriously flown by right before my eyes! So much has happened this summer that I definitely feel the need to share with you but I will save that for another time.

For now, I will vent. This summer has been the longest summer of my life, literally. I never believed what I heard before about college summers being longer than high school summers and even though I've been home since May 6th, part of me feels like I haven't been home long enough. Don't get me wrong, I am dying to get back to school and be with my friends and get back in the swing of things but let me be honest: deep down, I am a huge homebody. I love to do the social thing and do things with my friends (ask anybody, I'm always trying to plan something--that usually ends up failing 60% of the time), but sometimes I just want to sleep in my bed, watch my shows, and just have my "home" time. This issue is really beginning to stress me out about going back to school. Living in the dorm is quite the experience. First of all, I hate twin beds. I hate how small they are because I roll around a lot and am terrified of falling off the bed. I really should love twin beds, and I used to when I was little because (in case you didn't know) I'm a twin and growing up for a few years we had twin beds right next to each other, which I thought was the coolest thing ever and nobody else ever had anything as cool as a twin bed and an actual twin ;) And second, I hate how everything you own is in one teeny tiny room and that's all you have. I HATE IT. I have too much "stuff" to put it all in this little room, I just don't even know where to begin to start packing again! Overall, I have had a great summer spending time with my high school friends, college friends, and my family all while juggling camps and vacations and babysitting.

Sorry if I have bored you to tears, I will enlighten you more at a later date with more details of my summer :)

Have a blessed day!
